POSITION SUMMARY
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a Refining Engineering Manager at its refinery located in Salt Lake City Utah. This position is located in the Engineering organization and reports to the Engineering Director. This position does include relocation.
OVERVIEW
The Engineering Manager oversees the development management and completion of refinery projects applies an advanced level of project management and technical engineering knowledge and experience to monitor and ensure that projects are completed in a timely cost effective and quality-controlled manner. The Engineering Manager reports to the Refinery Engineering Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises the development management and completion of a wide range of engineering and construction projects to support the Area Team and/or Site Refinerys needs.
- Applies an advanced level of project management and technical engineering knowledge and experience to monitor and ensure that projects are completed in a timely cost-effective and quality-controlled manner.
- Ensures project objectives and scope align with the business objectives of the project throughout the project life cycle.
- Directs and monitors team members involved in the analysis design and construction management of assigned projects and/or Team engineering needs.
- Ensures designs and solutions include current engineering and construction technology; satisfy specifications and standards; maximize operations efficiency quality flexibility safety scheduling and reliability while minimizing costs.
- Distributes workloads strategically amongst the Engineering Department their team and engineering contractors; ensures that projects are completed within the intended budget year and/or to support the budgeting process. Maintains assigned workloads in a flexible environment to meet the changing needs of the Area Teams or Refinery.
- Leads and develops engineers for success through coaching training plans and work validation. Cultivates innovation to allow for the efficient completion of project assignments and/or troubleshooting efforts to support the Refinerys needs.
- Tracks and monitors project status and drives timely reporting of project schedules financial status and project viability with all effected stakeholders.
- Develops a teamwork approach to providing services. Ensures engineers are supporting the needs of their stakeholders including but not limited to managing Intelex items participating and/or leading PHAs and/or Incident Investigations participating in Procedural Development and Reviews and facilitating periodic prioritization meetings or project reviews with stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelors of Science in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 8 years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry.
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must have valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- 10-15 years post-degree engineering experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
- 3 or more years post-degree supervisory or management experience in the refining or petrochemical industry
