What You Will Be Doing:
As an Accounting Technician 3 you play a key role in supporting the Accountant 3 in managing the fiscal integrity of Alaskas Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) also known as Alaska Health Enterprise (AHE). You independently reconcile and verify complex financial transactions between AHE and the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) ensuring accuracy within a $2.2 billion Medical Assistance Program budget. Your responsibilities include weekly reconciliations technical verification and resolving discrepancies across various accounts and ledgers. You also conduct in-depth financial research and analysis to ensure proper posting and compliance. Your work is essential to maintaining accurate and efficient financial operations for the program.

You will play a vital role in influencing policy and policymakers and may participate in planning directing and monitoring the divisions programs including Medicaid operations healthcare policy and performance outcomes. The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position offers the opportunity to work from home based on the business needs of the Division; telework is possible with this position after training and approval from the Division Director. On-site workdays are located at 4601 Business Park Blvd Bldg. K in Anchorage central for shopping restaurants and commuting. Free parking is also available.

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of the principles methods and techniques of financial analysis forecasting and modeling to interpret quantitative and qualitative data; includes data modeling earned value management and evaluating key financial indicators trends and historical data.
  • Adaptability: adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers software applications databases and automated systems to accomplish work.

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.

An associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
