About us

Comcare is an established Mental Health and Housing provider assisting people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the community. We provide a rich and diverse range of Mental Health Support Services Housing and Housing Support Services.


Our Housing Service Delivery teams provide a range of housing-related assistance for those who are vulnerable to homelessness and housing loss particularly those experiencing mental illness and/or addiction issues. Our Services have been developed with the belief good housing is crucial to the maintenance of wellbeing and mental health and can be a key factor in recovery.


About this role

The Sustaining Tenancies Clinician will fulfil a vital and specialist role in assisting people who are struggling to maintain a tenancy by providing clinical and practical assistance around such things as undertaking an initial needs assessment planning immediate interventions such as environmental cleans facilitating access to primary and secondary health care and improving the relationship with the housing provider with the aim of creating positive sustainable change in their lives and living arrangements. You will work through the delivery of a comprehensive plan with continuous evaluation of needs and reviews.


What youll be doing

  • Comprehensive holistic assessments
  • Developing whānau centred support plans
  • Identifying and developing strategies to overcome challenges to housing sustainability
  • Engaging with other Government and social support services
  • Supporting other Sustaining Tenancy staff with complex issues
  • Contribute to Organisation Clinical Reference Group
  • Participate in improving processes and service delivery


We will require the successful applicant to act as one of Comcares Child Protection officers.


About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • the ability to make well considered decisions
  • a positive outlook and a passion to help others
  • to understand the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and demonstrate this in practice
  • experience in service brokerage and support planning
  • strong communication skills
  • a full drivers licence

The successful applicant will have a tertiary qualification in a mental health related occupation such as Social Work or Nursing with proven mentorship and support work experience.

Applicants must hold a current full clean drivers license.

You will have a cultural awareness knowledge of and demonstrable commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.


Eligibility
