The JM Family College Internship Program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that relate to their programs of study. Students in the program will actively contribute to their teams success learn about JM Familys company and culture and obtain new skills through various learning opportunities and projects. The individual selected for this internship will be responsible for supporting their department in a variety of functions and will gain exposure to the departments initiatives.
This position is for a summer internship with potential to transition to a part time co-op during subsequent school terms. We are seeking an engineering intern with a strong desire to learn and grow their academic knowledge as a partner in our professional environment. As a member of Southeast Toyotas Accessory Development department the intern will assist the team in a variety of functions. This may include but is not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development of automotive components
Perform benchmarking of competitive vehicles to determine target specifications
Develop commodity level standards for automotive accessories based on competitive benchmarking
Review Supplier Corrective Action Reports for root cause definition interim containment and permanent corrective action
Prototype automotive components for evaluation and production feasibility
Assist in teardown and analysis of vehicle accessories to develop commodity cost models
Adhere to safety and quality policies and procedures and support site/department compliance objectives
Qualifications:
Pursuing bachelors degree in mechanical electrical computer science or similar program and maintaining a satisfactory grade point average (3.0 or above)
General understanding of engineering principles mechanical components and systems from coursework
Microsoft Excel experience including data entry and basic formulas required
Strong organizational problem-solving and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow effectively
Ability to work under time constraints and manage complexity effectively
Excellent interpersonal skills including highly effective verbal and written communication skills
Previous automotive industry experiences desired but not required
Ability to travel between two VPC locations in Jacksonville as needed - one on Blount Island and one on Pritchard Road to perform job duties. This will require a personal vehicle.
