Job Description:
Are you looking for a research role where your work directly contributes to understanding how aging affects biology Iowa State University is hiring a Research Technician II to support laboratory studies using mouse and Caenorhabditis elegans models. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on lab experience who enjoys working in a collaborative research-focused environment.
What Youll Do:
- Maintain and manage mouse colonies including breeding injections behavioral testing and post-surgical care.
- Conduct behavioral and imaging experiments in mice and C. elegans including fiber photometry and calcium imaging.
- Perform molecular biology tasks such as cloning strain development and confocal microscopy.
- Manage lab operations including ordering supplies preparing reagents and maintaining equipment.
- Ensure compliance with IACUC and IBC protocols and coordinate with EH&S on lab safety.
- Train and support students and new lab personnel; work closely with faculty and research staff.

Example of Duties
Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
Collects analyzes and processes laboratory samples or research data.
Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
Determines testing methods for non-standardized test.
Cleans sanitizes maintains and operates lab equipment.
Assists scientists with research and record findings in the field or lab.
Maintains sample tracking.
