Linux Systems Admin Engineer

Peratons Space & Intelligence Sector is looking for a Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator to join our diverse team at our Herndon VA office. The candidate will be responsible for integrating and troubleshooting deployed systems.

As a Systems Engineer/Systems Administrator you will do among the following:

• Onboard new microservices ensuring smooth deployment and troubleshooting as needed.
• Monitor systems daily and ensure timely monthly OS patching software updates AV/AM updates for all assigned systems
• Troubleshoot Windows Server and 10/11 client and application performance issues recommending effective solutions.
• Rapidly address and resolve customer issues through a ticketing tracking system.

Required Qualifications

• A Bachelors degree with 5 years of relevant experience OR a Masters degree with 3 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years of relevant experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree requirement
• Active Security (DoD 8570 Baseline certification for IAT Lvl 2)
• Experience with installation management troubleshooting and maintenance of RHEL Linux OS variants (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9 Oracle Linux 8/9 Rocky Linux)
• Experience installing and configuring RPM software packages
• Experience maintaining system documentation including reading and creating network architecture diagrams
• Experience with Virtualization systems (VMWare Nutanix)
• TS with Ability to obtain SCI and pass poly

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with operating Linux clients in an Active Directory domain.
• Familiar with managing anti-virus and anti-malware software agents
• Familiar with scripting languages e.g. Powershell Ansible BASH
• Familiar with Windows 10/11 clients
• Familiar with DNS/DHCP
• Familiar with Vulnerability Assessment tools and remediation
• Familiar with network protocols
• Willingness to serve as a privileged user (PUA)
• TS/SCI CI poly
