SCHEDULE: Working 32 hours/week- fulltime.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
- Assesses educational needs and coordinates education activities of the staff.
- Supports and facilitates new-hire on-boarding and competency assessment.
- Ensures nursing practice of the department is aligned with current evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to implement evidence-based interventions for patient care.
- Incorporates high-reliability and safety tools into all methods of teaching.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the licensure certifications skills and competencies for staff required to care for the patients admitted to the unit.
- Develops and implements competency-based orientation programs for novice and experienced new nursing employees unit orientation of other clinical and student personnel as appropriate.
- Assesses staff educational needs utilizing data from clinical assessments patient care problems new clinical information and relevant research sources.
- Directly interacts with patients families and groups of patients to promote health or well-being and improve quality of life.
- Facilitates interdisciplinary teams to address ethical concerns risks or considerations benefits and outcomes of patient care.
- Advocates for equitable patient care.
- Provides direct patient care.
- Provides clinical expertise to the unit.
- Promotes a collaborative working environment.
- Participates and provides leadership as a change agent in performance improvement activities.
- Mentors staff on shared governance.
- Considers fiscal and budgetary implications in decision making regarding practice and system modifications.
- Works jointly with the multi-disciplinary team to optimize clinical outcomes.
- Provides coaching and education of staff to advance the care of patients families groups of patients and the profession of nursing.
- Coordinates and/or teaches educational programs designed to meet assessed needs of staff at all levels of clinical competence.
- Utilizes systematic inquiry including the use of evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
- Facilitates policy and procedure improvements
- Uses data to assess the quality and effectiveness of clinical programs in meeting outcomes.
Supports the Education Department in offering continuing nursing education activities as defined by the following:
- Maintains compliance with all applicable federal state and local laws and regulations that affect the organizations ability to meet the ANCC accreditation criteria.
- Identifies gaps in knowledge skill and practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Colorado RN license or ability to obtain.
- Current certifications relevant to department.
- BSN Required
- Three (3) to Five (5) years recent experience preferred specific to area of hire.
