Position summary:
The Global Accounting Manager is a key member of the Global Accounting department working closely with the Global Assistant Controller based in the Netherlands. This position will provide primary day-to-day support for annual audit process(es) and country-specific project benefit audits. This candidate will work closely with our global accounting team to ensure the complete processing of monthly foreign financial transactions into our global accounting system. Reconciliation of foreign office cash advance accounts and checking to ensure field offices meet global requirements for field office reporting is also part of the addition this role supports and assists the Controllership function in developing internal financial controls and accounting policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Regional Accounting Managers (RAMs) globally to ensure daily/monthly/quarterly/annual activities of the field transactions related to their relevant parent office are submitted completely accurately and timely.
- Performs detailed reviews of the subsidiary office monthly transactions including monthly bank reconciliations and petty cash/advances are reconciled and enter the months report in the corporate accounting system for relevant review/posting.
- Provides oversight of the accuracy and timely recording of daily accounting transactions including but not limited to banking payroll AP AR GL accruals fixed assets prepaids advances cash management credit cards leases foreign currency topics accounting systems and consolidations.
- Supports supervisor and global accounting team with monthly/quarterly/annual period-end closes annual audits & benefits audits.
- Proactively communicates regarding period closes audits benefit audits timecards and other topics as applicable.
- Supports the controllership functions in daily management of accounting staff and identifies and provides training / addresses knowledge gaps.
- Drives productive collaboration coordination communication and project implementation with other departments including Finance Development HR and Markets.
- Maintains effective communication leading the team managing up and maintaining relationships within and external to the organization.
- Serves as a backup for other team members as needed.
- Coordinates successful completion of required regulatory filings annually.
- Documents work instructions and contributes to statements of procedures and policies and procedures at the local and global levels.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex finance and accounting issues and offer solutions to upper management.
- Responsible for complete accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience; non-profit sector experience a plus
- Technical accounting expertise CPA preferred
- Dutch and English language skills required
- Demonstrated strong task and people management skills with supervisory experience in accounting or finance environment required
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task work in a multicultural diverse and highly deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with accounting system software expertise in Excel and report writing software
- Takes initiative self-motivated resourceful detail-oriented dependable strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a multicultural diverse and performance-driven environment
- Adaptable to change can work through ambiguity or without direct oversight and able to effectively prioritize and delegate
