Job Summary
Job Summary (List Format) Hemodialysis Nurse (Cone Health)
- Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts (nights: 6:30 pm 7:00 am); rotating weekends and holidays
- Float Requirement: Must float between 3 Cone Health campuses as needed
- On-Call: Required Sunday nights only (rotation basis)
- Patient Population:
- End stage renal disease
- Acute kidney injury
- Metabolic imbalances
- Dialysis access problems
- Drug overdoses requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis
- Apheresis patients (neurologic renal or hematologic/oncologic diseases)
- Acutely ill medical-surgical or critical care patients
- Department Details:
- Provides hemodialysis peritoneal dialysis and apheresis 24/7
- 9 bays plus 1 isolation room (for Hepatitis B patients)
- Equipped for telemetry and central cardiac monitoring
- Patient call system available at nurses station
- Supported by certified hemodialysis technicians and nursing secretary
- Nursing Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 nursing care in department and at bedside (for ICU patients)
- Cardiac monitoring for patients on telemetry or during treatments
- Peritoneal dialysis performed in patients room
- Hemodialysis/apheresis treatments average 4-5 hour stays
- Equipment Used:
- Tablo Dialysis Devices
- Baxter Amia Peritoneal Dialysis Devices
- Spectra Optia Apheresis Devices
- Compliance & Requirements:
- Must complete compliance by Wednesday noon before start date
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs
- Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Flexibility with scheduling and floating required
