Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering infusion therapy to patients. The RN will administer biologic medications and other infusion treatments to patients with chronic diseases and acute medical conditions. The RN will also conduct patient assessments provide education and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment & Monitoring:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including status of lab work and patient condition.
- Analyse patient data and report any changes to the referring physician.
- Prioritize data collection based on patient needs condition and clinic protocols.
- Infusion Therapy Administration:
- Administer medications and infusion therapies including biologic treatments (e.g. Remicade Tysabri) and other therapies (e.g. antibiotics hydration vitamins iron steroids) as prescribed.
- Perform sterile dressing changes and lab draws when necessary.
- Ensure accurate and timely implementation of physician orders and clinical documentation.
- Patient Education & Support:
- Provide patient education on infusion procedures expected outcomes and self-care practices.
- Deliver care in a culturally sensitive non-judgmental manner ensuring a positive patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors or Associate degree in Nursing.
- Current unrestricted RN license in the state of Virginia.
- CPR certification (BLS minimum).
- Experience:
- Infusion experience preferred.
- Previous EMR experience is a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent IV skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer/keyboard skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
