Disclaimer: This position is for a Company Accountant role. However the client is seeking someone with senior bookkeeping experience who is interested in transitioning into a Company Accountant position.
ABOUT THE CLIENT:
Our Client is the most experienced cooling tower team in NSW & ACT. We clean fix and replace towers that keep major buildings running and our team is growing fast. With new systems new investors and a big pipeline of work were looking for someone who can help our Business Manager stay one step ahead.
JOB SUMMARY:
This is not a data-entry role. Were seeking a hands-on accountant to own the books and support our next phase of growth. From payroll to job cost tracking to board-level reporting youll be the financial engine behind our trade operations working closely with the CFO and Business Manager. Your home base will be Xero (youll live in it!) and your work will support real commercial decisions every week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain up-to-date clean reconciliations in Xero (bank WIP clearing payroll etc.)
- Run and finalise payroll including leave timesheets and Xero Me approvals
- Oversee accounts payable (supplier invoices batch payments reconciling quotes)
- Oversee accounts receivable (customer invoices job completion follow-up)
- Support BAS IAS PAYG & super processing each quarter
- Assist in tracking profitability by job using job numbers and Xero Projects
- Support the month-end close and create reports for head office submission
- Help improve and maintain automated systems (ApprovalMax Projects Timesheets)
Key Metrics:
Xero reconciliations completed weekly < 3% error/variance
Payroll processed on time with leave tracked and costed correctly
All AP/AR up to date by Friday each week
Month-end completed within 5 business days
BAS & compliance deadlines met 100% of the time
Head Office reporting pack submitted monthly with accuracy and insight
Requirements
35 years experience in accounting or bookkeeping (trade or project-based business preferred)
Strong Xero experience required (payroll bank recs projects/timesheets a bonus)
Comfortable working across job costing or project number systems
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Familiarity with ATO requirements (BAS GST PAYG)
Bonus: knowledge of ApprovalMax Dext Hubdoc or other Xero plugins
