POSITION TITLE: Faculty CompositionPOSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Demonstrate respect for students; understand learning styles and apply understanding to institution-related activities; demonstrate integrity and promote diversity and open communications. Twelve credit hours a semester constitute a standard load when that load consists of nine credit hours of composition courses; fifteen credit hours a semester constitutes a standard load otherwise. Course assignments may be late afternoon evening Saturday and at branch campuses or satellite centers. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
courses in composition and/or developmental writing and/or technical communication each semester.
literature courses as scheduling enrollment and availability allow.
closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements curriculum and academic support.
in course development assessment and planning activities.
willing to teach online and/or hybrid courses.
in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
students with academic advising.
a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
at other campus sites as needed.
other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Masters Degree in English with a focus on composition theory rhetoric professional writing or literature.
(2) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
in appropriate technologies for instruction including learning management systems.
