Since 2012 we have leveraged our Innovation School autonomies to evaluate iterate and improve programming while responding to the changing needs of our community. We provide hands-on accessible learning experiences for over 800 Boston Public Schools students ensuring their cognitive development and readiness to participate actively in a complex constantly changing culturally diverse 2007 the Eliot has transformed from a school facing closure to a thriving learning community with a waiting list larger than its enrollment recognized as one of Massachusetts exemplary schools. The school is governed by a dedicated governing board and has built its success on a foundation of strong community partnership student-centered learning and the E.P.I.C. framework (Eliot. Play. Innovate. Create.).The OpportunityThe Eliot School seeks two exceptional educational leaders to serve as Co-Principals working in true partnership to lead the school into its next chapter. This co-leadership model reflects our commitment to collaborative leadership shared accountability and building on the strengths of multiple nineteen years of transformational leadership under the current Executive Director/Principal these positions offer the opportunity to steward a beloved school community while continuing to innovate and grow. The Co-Principals will work together to sustain and build upon the Eliots legacy while continuously evolving our vision for the StructureReporting Relationship: Both Co-Principals report directly to the Eliot School Governing Board and will be evaluated by the board on both individual contributions and collaborative Engagement: Both Co-Principals attend all governing board meetings and share responsibility for communication reporting and strategic planning with the Model: The Co-Principals will work together to define decision-making protocols division of responsibilities and operational structure based on their complementary strengths and the needs of the school community. This partnership approach should be built on trust transparent communication and shared commitment to the schools ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership-Preserve and advance the Eliots mission vision and core values -Leverage Innovation School autonomies to maintain programmatic excellence and responsiveness to student and family needs-Develop and implement the schools Instructional Focus through collaborative processes with faculty and families-Lead continuous improvement efforts using summative data and identified high-leverage areas of growth-Guide AI integration and other innovative practices that amplify teaching and learningInstructional Leadership-Foster a culture of instructional excellence across all grade levels and programs-Support teachers in delivering rigorous engaging and inclusive curriculum-Lead professional development and teacher growth initiatives-Monitor student progress and lead data-informed instructional decisionsCommunity & Family Partnership-Build and maintain authentic warm relationships with Eliot Families-Communicate transparently and regularly with all stakeholders-Honor the schools culture of accessibility responsiveness and family voice-Lead community events and celebrations that strengthen school culture-Partner with families to support student success and wellbeingOperational & Campus Management-Oversee operations across a multi-building campus-Manage budget and resources strategically including fundraising initiatives-Lead hiring supervision and evaluation of staff-Ensure safe welcoming and well-maintained learning environments-Navigate Boston Public Schools systems and requirements while maintaining Innovation School autonomiesGovernance-Work collaboratively with the governing board and its executive committee-Provide clear timely communication and recommendations to support board decision-making-Implement board policies and directives-Support the governing board in fulfilling its oversight and strategic responsibilitiesCo-Leadership Partnership-Demonstrate ability to share leadership authentically and equitably-Build on each others strengths and support each others growth-Present a unified vision while honoring different perspectives-Model collaborative decision-making for the school community-Communicate proactively with each other and with stakeholdersQualificationsRequired:-Massachusetts Principal/Administrator licensure (or eligibility)-Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience-Minimum 3 years of school leadership experience (assistant principal instructional coach department head or similar)-Deep commitment to educational equity and inclusive practices-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships-Strong instructional leadership and understanding of effective teaching practices-Experience using data to drive instructional improvement-Excellent communication skills with diverse audiences including families staff and governing bodies-Cultural competency and ability to serve diverse student and family populationsStrongly Preferred:-Experience in Innovation Schools or charter schools or deep understanding of school autonomy models-Experience working with governing boards or school leadership teams-Track record of leading change while honoring existing culture and community-Experience with budget management and resource allocation-Bilingual/multilingual capabilities-Knowledge of Boston Public Schools systems and context-Experience with AI integration or other innovative educational technologies-Previous experience in co-leadership or collaborative leadership modelsEssential Qualities:-Commitment to the Eliots mission values and culture-Collaborative spirit and genuine partnership orientation-Warmth authenticity and accessibility with all community members-Strategic thinking combined with attention to operational detail-Resilience adaptability and solution-oriented mindset-High expectations for all students combined with deep belief in their potential-Willingness to learn grow and be responsive to feedbackCompensation & BenefitsSalary and benefits competitive with Boston Public Schools leadership positions and commensurate with experience.
