The opportunity / He angitūtanga:
AsureQualitys Biosecurity team are looking for one person to help lead a small team to deliver services that protect New Zealand against exotic pests and disease incursions.
Dates of work: Start 5th January 2026 (likely work for 2-3 months) with a one day training to be provided on 10 December 2025.
Pay: Competitive hourly rate 8% holiday pay
Location: Working throughout the Auckland region your day will start at our Lab in Blockhouse Bay.
This casual role will involve varying hours. This means the hours could be anything from 0 to 40 hours per week. Can only be worked during daylight hours as these roles involve working outdoors.
In this role you will
- Schedule coordinate & perform biosecurity monitoring activities in a small team for the National Invasive Ant Surveillance (NIAS) programme.
- Site inspection trapping/surveillance work data recording and sample handling looking for exotic ants at high-risk sites such as seaports airports and transitional facilities.
- Report on data and auditing for your region.
- Potentially help out other Biosecurity teams with Fruit Fly Surveillance
- Respect mātauranga (understanding) Māori and local tikanga (culture) and encourage their practice in our roles.
About you / He kōrero mōu:
To be considered for this role you will
- Be physically fit and able to walk for long periods of time.
- Good customer service & administration skills as part of your job will be booking in jobs and facilitating the team.
- Able to use phone apps and computer technology.
- Respect for Te Reo me ona tikanga Maori and other cultures.
- Can-do attitude and a great work ethic.
- Previous experience in Biosecurity is highly desirable but not essential.
- A full clean New Zealand drivers licence is desired but not essential.
