Senior Sales Engineer Public Sector (M/W/D)

The Opportunity
The members of our Sales Engineering team are highly valued business partners that play a critical role in our sales process every single day.

As a Senior Sales Engineer for the Public Sector in Germany you will be the technical face of Proofpoint in engagements with government agencies municipalities healthcare institutions and other public entities. You will help customers understand how Proofpoints platform can protect their people data and infrastructure from evolving cyber threats while ensuring compliance with German and EU regulations.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Technical Pre-Sales Support: Collaborate with Account Executives to drive technical sales cycles including discovery solution design demos and Proof-of-Concepts (POCs).
  • Solution Expertise: Architect and present Cyber Security solutions across Proofpoints portfolio.
  • Public Sector Alignment: Understand and align solutions with public sector frameworks such as BSI IT-Grundschutz GDPR and EU NIS2 Directive.
  • Tender & RFP Support: Provide technical input for public sector tenders RFPs and procurement processes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted relationships with IT security leaders CISOs and compliance officers in public institutions.
  • Enablement & Training: Deliver workshops webinars and enablement sessions to educate customers and partners on Proofpoint technologies.
  • Feedback Loop: Share insights from public sector engagements with Product Management to influence roadmap and innovation.

What you Bring to the Team

  • 5 years of experience in Sales Engineering Security Consulting or Technical Pre-Sales.
  • Strong understanding of public sector IT environments and procurement processes in Germany.
  • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity technologies especially email security DLP and cloud protection.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel across Germany for customer engagements.

In addition to the above if you have been a part of a sales team before or have a desire to take your career in that direction as well as an enthusiasm for cyber-security and related security standards and frameworks like ISO NIST and MITRE.
