This position primarily serves as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA)or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) providing direct support to the provider and ensuring high-quality patient care. The role may also include Referral Specialist responsibilities when the provider is not in the office to help maintain smooth clinic operations.
What Youll Do:
- Triage and prepare patients for medical examinationsAdminister medications perform lab testing and assist with proceduresMaintain clean and well-stocked treatment areasAssist with referrals preauthorizations and scheduling when neededAdhere to all HCHD safety security and compliance standards
- Support nursing and front office staff as required
- Communicate professionally with patients and staff while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Educate and counsel patients on treatments medications and testing
- Record and update patient history medications and vital signs in the EMR
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program
- Current CMA certification
- Current LVN license
- Current BLS certification
- Valid Texas drivers license
Preferred:
- 1 year clinical experience
- Experience with billing coding or insurance preauthorization
- Familiarity with eClinicalWorks or other EHR software
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong communication organizational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Excellent customer service and teamwork
- Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
Physical Requirements:
- Medium Work lift/carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently
- Frequent standing walking bending and reaching
- Manual dexterity to operate medical and office equipment
