The Day Program Counselor (DSP) holds a critical role in our organization working in collaboration with the Program Director/Coordinator and other staff members to develop implement and evaluate care programs for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This position operates in a 100% community-based environment requiring a high level of adaptability and commitment.
- Maintain direct communication with the Program Director regarding all program and personnel matters within the Day Program.
- Liaise with the Coordinator on activity planning medical concerns and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Provide comprehensive direct services to individuals with IDD including but not limited to:
- Ensuring clean and safe transportation to all scheduled activities
- Assisting with meal preparation and consumption
- Supporting personal hygiene needs
- Supervising training and assisting in all aspects of daily living
- Demonstrate unwavering dedication to maintaining a safe supportive and enriching environment for program participants.
- Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in all interactions with individuals families and colleagues.
- Meticulously document all relevant information and maintain accurate records as per organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Continuously enhance professional skills through ongoing training and education in the field of IDD care.
- Possess and maintain a valid drivers license as this is a critical requirement for the position.

Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED Certification
- Relevant education training or experience in working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
- Valid drivers license
- Strong communication judgment and teamwork skills
- Commitment to providing quality care and maintaining a safe environment for program participants

Additional Information :
Hours are primarily scheduled Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The specific number and times of scheduled hours is set upon hiring. The Program Director may approve and/or mandate a change in hours based on program or consumer needs or required training.
