Job Summary: The OR Team Coordiantor is responsible for assisting the Director and Clinical Manager in provision of care for age specific and diverse patient populations included in meeting the established surgical standards in the operating room. This includes leadership skills in assisting staff to provide problem identification planning implementation evaluation of patient outcomes and communicates assessment of employees performances. Makes appropriate decisions utilizing established protocols which are made to prevent moderate delays and additional allocation of funds and resources.



Responsibilities
  1. Technical Tasks
    1. Review surgery schedule in a timely manner (next and upcoming days) defining special/routine order inventory and recommending increased per levels with projected increased usage
    2. Coordinates surgical case needs with physicians surgical staff and outside sources with effective communication to appropriate personnel
    3. As needed provide relief for breaks; if inopportune time occurs communicate effectively
    4. Arranges equipment repair through the Electronic Engineering Department (Bio-Med).
  2. Critical Thinking
    1. Provide resource support to staff in problem identification and resolution; planning implementing and evaluation of patient outcome
    2. Providing expertise and knowledge in establishing reviewing and revising policy/procedures and protocols.
    3. Assist with orientation of employees in designated special areas through supervision and evaluation.
    4. Assist schedulers in posting multi-complex or complex procedures to obtain correct appropriate preference card.
    5. Implements product evaluations and changes to provide staff and patients with quality products at optimum pricing; channels product evaluations to appropriate personnel for decision making
    6. Prioritizes coordinates and/or provides food time management techniques in the work setting in order to implement planned changes and activities to improve the department
  3. Interpersonal Relations
    1. When case manager schedule time off team work is displayed through effective communication reporting expected case loads multi complex procedures pending supply/equipment.
    2. Communicates effectively and maintains professional relationships with all members of the health care team. Directly involved with resolution of conflict with peers Physicians/Patiens/ Departments. Specific documentation exist of this occurrence
  4. Professional Profile
    1. Assist educator in identifying and coordinating need for staff education
    2. Serves on hospital committees as appointed
    3. Identifies areas for improvement and initiates the formation of a work group to improve the work process
    4. Adhere to hospital policy on the usage of Paid time off and Extended Illness Time
    5. Attends required inservice education program and management meetings
    6. Is willing to adjust personal schedule to meet needs of department and during crisis/emergency situations
    7. Responds to changes in work assignments and demonstrates a willingness to assist with work that needs to be done
    8. Maintains a professional appearance according to job requirements at all times
    9. Uses appropriate lines of authority
  5. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Service Line Responsibility: Ortho Podiatry and Vascular services

Experience: 2 - 3 years experience in Surgery area

Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing

Special Skills: Proficient in the English language verbal and written communication skills computer skills

License: Current Louisiana State license as RN; BLS certification; CNOR Preferred
