Job Summary
Job Title: Director of Academic & Research Computing
Primary Location: REMOTE
Position Type: Full-Time
TalentFish is casting a line for a Director of Academic & Research Computing. This is a REMOTE Full-Time the role of Director of Academic & Research Computing you will be accountable for the strategy leadership direction and delivery of ongoing operations of systems and technologies used by the University and Research communities. This role ensures alignment of technical strategy with institutional priorities while driving innovation and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education specifically supporting and implementing student information systems learning management systems and faculty management systems.
What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Healthcare or related fields (Masters preferred).
- 10 years of progressive IT experience with at least 7 years in leadership roles.
- Experience coordinating technology that supports University and research environments.
- Preferred experience in higher education and research administration operations.
- Experience leading large complex operational units with interdependent software applications.
- Proven success managing diverse IT environments and operations at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovative solutions in alignment with emerging market trends.
- Strong change management skills with the ability to inspire mentor and lead large teams.
- Excellent diplomatic communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to define and implement multi-dimensional technology solutions.
What Youll Do (Skills Used in this Position)
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for academic and research computing initiatives.
- Manage large complex IT projects and programs ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Lead and develop technical managers team leaders and staff fostering a culture of innovation.
- Manage staffing recruitment supervision development and performance management.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Translate business and research into effective technology solutions.
- Oversee vendor relationships contract negotiations and implementation of new technologies.
- Manage cloud-based IT services and ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Coordinate technical standards and processes across IT areas.
- Actively participate in strategic planning risk management and business case development.
- Present at the executive level and influence organizational change.
Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position is $131284 $195561 per year depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance 401(k) and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity. The salary range provided is in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
This role requires authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
