Our client Banco Popular de Puerto Rico is looking for a Data Architect.

General Description:

We are looking for a Data Architect with strong experience in AI and ML to design build and govern data architectures that enable advanced analytics machine learning and generative AI. This role will define the data infrastructure operating model and roadmap in a highly regulated environment (banking) ensuring compliance performance security and scalability.

Responsibilities:

• Define architectures for data pipelines (batch and streaming) to support AI/ML including feature extraction feature stores model serving inference and monitoring.
• Design and implement storage solutions for structured and unstructured data.
• Establish standards for data modeling (conceptual logical physical) schema evolution governance metadata and lineage.
• Ensure data security PII protection encryption at rest and in transit key management and compliance with regulations (BCBS 239 PCI DSS GDPR).
• Collaborate with Data Science Analytics Product Risk and Compliance teams to define requirements and deliver AI/ML solutions.
• Design platform components: orchestration containerization monitoring logging and scaling.
• Mentor data engineers influence the roadmap evaluate new tools and modernize legacy systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Data Science or related field (advanced degree is a plus).

• 7- 10 years in data architecture/engineering roles;

• 2- 3 years in AI/ML pipeline

  architectures.
• Strong expertise in data modeling and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and related storage/governance tools.
• Knowledge of batch and streaming pipelines (Kafka Spark Flink).
• Data governance lineage metadata and regulatory compliance in finance.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills.
