Basic Function:

Responsible for managing a portfolio of major ($25000) and principal ($1000000) gift prospects in order to generate private gift support for Intercollegiate Athletics including the supervision of other philanthropic advisors supporting the engagement and cultivation of former student-athletes and university donors. Reports to Associate Vice President Philanthropy.

Examples of Duties:

Duties/essential functions may include but not be limited to the following:

Secure major and principal gifts for the university focusing on individuals and coordinating with corporate and foundation relations staff as well as any third-party athletics vendors staff on corporate and foundation donors.

Creates long-term plans and goals for the successful operation of the major gifts program for athletics while identifying new prospects by working closely with prospect development in the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (DPAE).

Participate on the leadership team for the vice president and director of athletics and serve as the liaison of athletics priorities and information to other members of the athletics philanthropy team.

In partnership with DPAE and athletics leadership develop and implement strategy for the Vice President Director of Athletics donor engagements and outreach. Includes travel with AD and/or President on major development trips events and donor engagements.

May assist in planning and developing special projects relative to interests of prospects.

Work with DPAE Communications and Events to coordinate marketing and outreach efforts to target key constituency groups.

Provide direct supervision of philanthropy staff within athletics and provide leadership in setting annual fundraising goals objectives and strategies.

Serve on various campus and community committees task forces councils etc.

Partner on a day-to-day basis with athletics philanthropy staff including annual giving communications events and operations reporting directly to operations units within DPAE.

Collaborate with coaches athletics senior staff and university leadership to develop compelling philanthropic priorities.

Serve as liaison between Athletics and the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (DPAE) regarding prospect activity.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in relevant field and five years progressively responsible fundraising and/or sales experience required.

License/Certification:

Valid drivers license.

Knowledge Of:

Functional knowledge of institutional fundraising processes from individuals *
Must possess a broad institutional perspective and have excellent management and planning skills as well as a proactive style of leadership that encourages teamwork and interaction *
Business processes in advancement operations including prospect management and tracking donor relations and gift processing *
NCAA Division I athletics NIL regulations and the evolving landscape of collegiate sports fundraising

Skill In:

Excellent interpersonal skills written and verbal communications *
Public relations skills *
Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software *
Organizing information and projects and adhering to deadlines
Managing a high-performing team and driving measurable revenue outcomes specifically in intercollegiate athletics

Ability To:

Research cultivate and manage donor relations *
Work independently and as part of a team *
Provide leadership and direction *
Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments *
Demonstrated progressive fundraising ability *
Prepare proposals and reports *
Travel and participate in evening and weekend work-related activities
Fostering collaboration innovation and delivering donor-centered outcomes*

Preferred Qualifications if applicable:

Experience in higher education fundraising and intercollegiate athletics.

Experience partnering or participating in comprehensive revenue strategies that include philanthropy marketing ticketing and external partnerships.
