DescriptionThe Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida has established a regional and national reputation in physiological research. The candidate will work closely with Department Hypertension and Kidney Research Center the Heart Institute to expand the Universitys research academic missions. The position will be based on 100% research effort.
Responsibilities- Conducting cardiovascular and mitochondrial research using physiological biochemical and cell biological approaches
- Knowledgeable and ensures compliance with policies and procedures for research
- Participates in development of grant submissions
- Understanding and reviewing previous research and external research papers
- Establishes experimental hypotheses and designs experiments and develops research methodology
- Ensures accurate collection and analysis of data gathered in research experiments and able to interpret data using statistical methodology
- Prepares writes and presents papers for publication
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have an Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biophysics and physiology or related area and have demonstrated high-level qualifications and in-depth knowledge in at least two area of the following research fields: cardiovascular research cardiac electrophysiology cardiac excitation-contraction coupling and/or mitochondrial biology. Candidates should have experience in leading or supporting basic science research and a publication track record of successful research.
PreferredQualifications:
Preferred areas of laboratory expertise include:
- Cellular electrophysiology live cell imagining electron microscopy
- Cell culture and maintaining human iPSC derived cardiomyocytes and cell lines; Protein immunoprecipitation and qPCR
- Familiarity with a variety of laboratory technologies including the development of cardiovascular disease animal models in vivo cardiac function measurements and live cell imaging using confocal microscopes.
Generation verification and maintenance of transgenic animal lines.
