Job Summary

Job Title: RN Labor & Delivery Nights Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor & Delivery Unit caring for mothers and newborns throughout the antepartum intrapartum and postpartum periods. The RN ensures the delivery of safe evidence-based care by applying the nursing process of assessment planning implementation and evaluation while maintaining established standards for perinatal nursing practice and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to mothers and newborns in labor delivery and recovery.

  • Assess plan implement and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

  • Monitor fetal and maternal conditions responding promptly to changes in status.

  • Assist with deliveries and provide postpartum care and education.

  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policy.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.

  • Ensure patient staff and visitor safety within the unit.

  • Communicate effectively with the care team to ensure continuity of care.

  • Escalate clinical or safety concerns through the chain of command when necessary.

Qualifications (Legally Required):
  • Active RN License required

  • BLS (AHA) required

  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required

  • ACLS (AHA) preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or perinatal nursing required per company policy

Shift Details:
  • Type: Regular / Non-Per Diem

  • Shift: Nights 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (12-hour shift)

  • Schedule: Variable based on departmental needs

  • Setting: Labor & Delivery / Perinatal Unit
