Job Title: Mainframe Developer

Location: Mississauga ON (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)

Employment Type: Long Term Contract

Experience Required: 7 Years

Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled Senior Mainframe Developer to join our technology team in Mississauga. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies strong problem-solving skills and experience delivering complex enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain enhance and modernize critical mainframe applications in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design develop enhance and support mainframe applications using COBOL JCL and DB2.
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Perform unit testing debugging and performance tuning of mainframe programs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA DevOps Business Analysts) to deliver high-quality solutions.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Support production systems and provide timely issue resolution.
Contribute to mainframe modernization or integration projects (where applicable).

Technical Skills & Experience:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
7 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development.
Strong proficiency in COBOL JCL DB2 VSAM and CICS.
Experience with file handling batch processing and online transaction systems.
Working knowledge of SQL and stored procedures.
Experience in debugging tools (Expeditor Abend-AID) and version control (Endevor Changeman).
Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Familiarity with mainframe modernization tools APIs or integration with distributed systems is a plus.

Nice to Have:

Experience in migration or re-platforming mainframe applications.
Exposure to DevOps pipelines Git or cloud integration (AWS Mainframe Modernization).
Familiarity with Rexx scripting or assembler programming.
