Duration 06 months contract with possible extension

Shift Training with manager & clinical pharmacist M-F 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm PST 2 weeks - NO TIME OFF

M-F 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm PST (candidate can chose between the two scheduled but must stick with it)

Job Description:

Summary:

The main function of a pharmacist is to dispense prescription medications to patients and offer expertise in the safe use of prescriptions. They also may conduct health and wellness screenings provide immunizations oversee the medications given to patients and provide advice on healthy lifestyles.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians workflow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries charges and inspections.
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals counseling patients on drug therapies. Develops hospital staffs pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs training pharmacy staff students interns externs residents and health care professionals.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy the drug enforcement administration and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
  • Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Typical day in this role:

Member facing and outreach telephonic. focus on oncology program. Assist with clinical outreach for cardiac conditions such as hyperlipidemia hypertension etc.

Qualifications:

Required: Doctorate Pharmacy Degree required

Required: California Pharmacy License

Must haves: 2 years pharmacist experience health plan medication reconciliation or hospital experience oncology experience

Nice to haves: Post hospital discharge Outreach experience

Disqualifiers: DO NOT want ONLY retail nor their most previous role (CVS Walgreens etc.)

Performance indicators: Quantity of calls/interventions member success stories quality of interventions.
