Job Summary

Commercial Real Estate Associate

Our Charleston office is seeking an experienced and motivated Commercial Real Estate Associate to join our expanding practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled attorney to work on sophisticated real estate transactions alongside a collaborative and highly regarded team.

In this role you will advise and represent clients in a wide range of commercial real estate matters - including acquisitions dispositions financings development projects leasing and joint ventures. You will also provide counsel on zoning entitlement and land use issues as well as manage complex real estate transactions from inception to closing.

Our clients include developers investors lenders and institutional partners and you will have the opportunity to build lasting relationships across a diverse range of real estate projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in acquisitions dispositions and secured financings.
  • Advise on common and preferred equity investments joint ventures and ownership structures.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for real estate transactions including purchase and sale agreements loan documents and leases.
  • Counsel clients on zoning entitlement and development matters including appeals and property tax assessments.
  • Provide guidance on governance and compliance matters affecting real estate entities.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).
  • Minimum of five years of experience practicing commercial real estate law.
  • Strong expertise in real estate finance zoning entitlement and land use.
  • Proven ability to independently manage and close complex transactions.
  • Experience representing developers lenders and institutional investors is highly valued.
