Job Summary
SUMMARY: Designs develops and implements electrical systems controls/programs for blow molding machines and related equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Designs and modifies electrical systems including cabinets layouts schematics and control programming for various devices (e.g. motor speed controllers temperature and pressure controllers).
- Develops logic systems for sequence and timing control adhering to electrical standards for machinery design.
- Creates Bills of Materials for electrical system components and prepares electrical instructions and manuals.
- Collaborates with other departments to resolve issues related to control systems machine start-ups and troubleshooting.
- Uses CAD and design software to create and modify electrical designs.
- Conducts trial runs of programmed machines and equipment verifying system conformity to specifications and assisting with debugging as needed.
- Travels to customer locations for on-site support and attends engineering meetings to exchange ideas and provide information.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Level I: Entry-level position
- Level II: Minimum of two years of relevant practical experience and at least three years of electrical design experience
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in CAD and electrical design software
- Experience with industrial electronic devices (e.g. Siemens)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:
- Personal computers and software including word processing spreadsheets and mainframe applications
- Machine level programming languages
- Understanding of basic electrical laws and industrial control systems
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- May work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to risk of electrical shock
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment
