Description
The Service Foreman is responsible for overseeing all functions of the shop and act as the supervisor and trainer for all Technicians on the floor. The Service Foreman will be able to ensure optimal efficiency and quality by assisting technicians with diagnostics scheduling work flow and assigning technicians to jobs appropriate to their skill levels and helping technicians prioritize their time.
Responsibilities
- Help the management team keep shop clean and safe. Work as a united team with the Service Manager to ensure technician team is made aware of and follows company policies and procedures including but not limited to post-accident & injury meal & rest breaks and EHS rules and regulations.
- Assist technicians with difficult or high-priority repairs and ensure completion of proper documentation.
- Provide estimates for customers and then direct technicians to perform required work within SRT Times. Follow up as work is completed to ensure work is being properly performed (QC quality control inspection) and that customer expectations are met.
- Ensure inventory of tools equipment and supplies are appropriately stocked and protected from loss. Notify Service Manager of supply needs that are not being met.
- Anticipate customer needs.
- Liaise with Service Advisers to schedule repairs in the shop as well as *mobile repair work. Assist with scheduling pickup and delivery of customers vehicles.
- Serve as leader and role-model conducting oneself with highest of ethical professional and safety standards. Provide training to technicians in areas of technical repair shop procedures etc. Appropriately escalate performance and any other employee-related concerns to Service Manager.
- Perform a (QC) quality control inspection on every truck repaired.
Review the ROs determining all ROs have parts labor sublets assigned to the correct repair line
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience as a diesel technician & proficiency in all tools of the trade.
- International / Cummins Master Tech. certification or equivalent preferred.
- Supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze processes and problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation; performs work in safe and alert manner at all times.
- Master-level knowledge of heavy-duty truck diagnosis and repair.
- Sound knowledge of shop operations and flow.
- General knowledge of truck parts inventory and sales process.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Solid computer skills; ability to effectively utilize all required systems and programs.
- Strong diagnostic skills and basic understanding of diagnostic software.
- Professional demeanor (including ability to maintain composure in stressful situations).
- Ability to effectively train and coach varying levels of team member abilities.
- Professional appearance and excellent customer service skills
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork.
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of job in safe and alert manner including lifting up to 50lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner.
- Valid drivers license and able to meet insurance requirements.
