Role Responsibilities

Reporting to a Project Manager within the Project Delivery group in the Property Management Branch this position will assist in and manage the delivery of Major Maintenance Operations and Tenant Improvement Projects and Consultant Investigations in Government owned and leased facilities. The Project delivery Intern will participate in the planning and scope definition of all projects.

As the intern to the Project Manager they will define the project requirements with clients; co-ordinate the activities of in-house team members private-sector consultants contractors and ensure that project scope time cost and quality objectives are met.

Manage multi-discipline projects involving Architectural Structural Mechanical and Electrical disciplines. Ensure all phases of project activities are compliant with Government and Ministry legislation policies guidelines standards and procedures.

Key responsibilities for the Project Delivery Intern include but are not limited to:

  • Selecting consultants and identifying in-house resources for the project team
  • Identifying and collaborating with clients and in house staff as required
  • Prioritizing requirements and developing recommendations for project implementation
  • Managing project expenditures through all stages of project implementation to ensure maximum value within approved budget
  • Establishing the project critical path and ensuring consultants provide deliverables within timelines including design reports and contract documents
  • Drafting ministerial briefings and correspondence on project-related issues

The Project Delivery Intern requires basic knowledge of:

  • Planning and management principles and techniques as well as the ability to administer control systems and manage contracts
  • Planning design and construction documentation requirements
  • Design and construction theories disciplines and processes including those relating to architecture structural mechanical and electrical engineering and contract law


The successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification. Refer to Two-year technical diploma in Architecture Engineering or related field
PLUS 2 years of experience in Project Management


Equivalency: Related experience or education (e.g. related diploma) may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.

Assets:
Certification as a construction administrator or project manager
Working knowledge of software tools used to carry out responsibilities (i.e. Microsoft Word MS Project Excel and other project management software

Notes

This position is a Temporary Full-Time role (2 Year Contract) with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25 Monday to Friday (8:15 am 4:30 pm).
