Job Description:
The Lead Systems Engineer (SE) is responsible for system level testing system evaluation troubleshooting as well as sustainment planning and execution. The Lead SE is part of a team that supports the requirements design development test and integration of complex electromagnetic interference (EMI) protections of systems installed on airborne platforms.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to understand complex Electrical Diagrams across multiple systems.
- Competence in Electrical Engineering and fundamentals of Electromagnetic Fields.
- Evaluating design sufficiency and installation compliance with published engineering documents.
- Writing and/or reviewing related requirements documents.
- Plan coordinate and execute time sensitive high stakes testing involving teams with diverse roles backgrounds and responsibilities.
- Plan coordinate and verify EMI related maintenance activities.
- Performing formal and on-the-spot risk assessments.
- Proficient at communicating that risk to multiple levels of management.
- Communicating with vendors related to repairs and improvements.
- Maintaining a test site and a substantial quantity of test equipment.
- Attention to detail in engineering design and documentation as well as evaluation of completed work.
- Able to judge best course of action and communicate recommendations to leadership.
- Self-starter work without direct supervision on a regular basis.
- Able to climb ladders crawl and access difficult to access areas.
- Identify and solve problems using logical engineering thought processes
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel Access Visio and PowerPoint
- Plan and execute test evaluation verification and validation efforts across a broad range of systems
- Interpret test data live and derive troubleshooting efforts quickly.
- Understand requirement traceability.
- Familiar with Aircraft maintenance practices advanced electromagnetic fields theory Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and DO-160.
- Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
- Well versed in Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with nine (9) years of Systems experience supporting requirements design development test and integration of complex electromagnetic interference protections of systems install on airborne platforms.
- Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of Systems experience supporting requirements design development test and integration of complex electromagnetic interference protections of systems install on airborne platforms.
- In lieu of a degree a minimum of 13 years of prior Systems experience supporting requirements design development test and integration of complex electromagnetic interference protections of systems install on airborne platforms.
- Must have an Active Secret Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Security certification.
