Electrical Design Engineer

Job description

The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing developing and testing electrical systems and components for commercial industrial or residential applications. This role involves creating electrical schematics ensuring compliance with U.S. codes and standards supporting project execution and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe efficient and cost-effective electrical designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems schematics layouts and wiring diagrams
• Perform load calculations short-circuit analysis and voltage drop calculations
• Select electrical components such as breakers transformers panels motors and control systems
• Ensure designs comply with NEC (National Electrical Code) IEEE UL and local regulations
• Prepare technical documentation drawings and specifications
• Support manufacturing construction installation and commissioning activities
• Coordinate with mechanical civil and software engineers
• Review and approve electrical drawings and submittals
• Troubleshoot design issues and propose corrective actions
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 2-5 years of experience in electrical design (depending on level)
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD AutoCAD Electrical Revit or similar)
• Strong understanding of electrical principles power systems and control systems
• Knowledge of U.S. electrical codes and standards (NEC NFPA IEEE)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status
• Experience with PLCs control panels or power distribution systems
• Familiarity with ETAP SKM or similar analysis tools
• Experience in industries such as construction manufacturing energy or automation
