Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Director to lead our safety program in the fast-paced fiber construction industry. The Safety Director will be responsible for developing implementing and monitoring safety policies procedures and training to ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement across all fields and office operations.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Director to lead our safety program in the fast-paced fiber construction industry. The Safety Director will be responsible for developing implementing and monitoring safety policies procedures and training to ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement across all fields and office operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop implement and enforce company-wide health safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures specific to fiber construction operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA DOT local regulatory agencies and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site audits inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Work with fleet management to ensure proper usage of companies vehicles and equipment
- Oversee incident investigations root-cause analyses and corrective action follow-ups.
- Lead safety training programs toolbox talks and certification requirements (e.g. confined space fall protection traffic control).
- Oversee safety programs
- Collaborate with project managers field supervisors and subcontractors to ensure safety integration into all job planning and execution.
- Maintain accurate safety documentation reports and metrics for leadership review.
- Serve as the companys primary safety representative with clients regulatory agencies and insurance providers.
- Drive a proactive safety culture through engagement coaching and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor new safety regulations technologies and practices to keep the company ahead of compliance requirements.
- Minimum 510 years of safety leadership experience in construction utilities or telecom/fiber industries.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA 1926 (Construction) and FMCSA Part 40 and 49 regulations.
- In depth knowledge of Aerial and Buried Outside Plant Construction
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards DOT regulations and state/local safety requirements.
- Strong communication leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record of implementing effective safety programs in field-based environments.
- Ability to travel frequently to job sites across multi state regions (30% travel will be required)
