Description

Westford Veterinary Emergency Referral Center is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Lead Veterinary Technician to our Internal Medicine team. The shift for this role will be Monday Tuesday and Wednesday 12-hour shifts; availability for this schedule is required.

Lead Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine

Westford Massachusetts

$27.00-$39.00/hour depending on experience licensure and availability.

This role is also eligible for up to a $1000 incentive bonus upon signing!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones

  • Provide input in the process of regular performance reviews

  • Training education and developing of staff

  • Perform exams and take histories from clients including complex medical timelines.

  • Responsible for creating a hospital environment that bolsters the morale and retention of doctors and staff.

  • Perform advanced nursing skills including CPR Phlebotomy Cystocentesis lab tests and various medication administration

  • Administer and monitor sedated patients for minor procedures as well as advanced anesthetic skills

  • Work together as a team with fellow management staff to achieve patient care client service and financial management goals.

  • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.

  • Complete Staff performance evaluations and provide insight on staff performance to Hospital Management

  • Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy

  • Assisting the Specialty Technician Supervisor with staff scheduling- keeping hours within budget with coverage to meet hospital and departmental demands. Assist with payroll as requested.

  • Handle client complaints with concern and diplomacy

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred

  • Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technician in Massachusetts or eligible for transfer highly preferred

  • Prior experience with anesthesia required

  • Prior specialty and emergency experience required

  • Available during off hours and by phone to assist with problem solving.

  • Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people
