The role aligns with a
Research & Development (R&D) Electronics Engineer or a specialized
Laser/Optoelectronics Control Systems Engineer. The emphasis on
Doctorate/Masters degree cross-disciplinary collaboration intellectual property and
publications strongly indicates a
research-focused position within an academic government or industrial research lab.
Core Duties & Responsibilities The position has four main areas of responsibility:
-
Custom Circuit Design & Development:
-
Design and develop custom electronic circuits (analog digital mixed-signal RF) for proof-of-concept devices and demonstration units.
-
Complete the full design cycle: schematics PCB layouts component specifications and simulation/analysis (using tools like SPICE).
-
System Integration & Packaging:
-
Design compact robust electronic packaging solutions.
-
Ensure Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and implement shielding.
-
Collaborate on thermal control and mechanical enclosure design.
-
Laser/Optical Control Systems:
-
Design specialized control circuits for laser systems and optical components.
-
Implement and develop laser safety protocols and interlock systems.
-
Focus on precision timing and synchronization for chip-scale laser applications.
-
Prototyping Validation & Documentation:
-
Work with vendors for prototype build and assembly.
-
Conduct rigorous performance validation and troubleshooting.
-
Document all test procedures and results.
-
Research & Collaboration:
Essential Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience (Minimum)
Required Technical Expertise -
Circuit Design: Strong proficiency in analog digital mixed-signal and RF circuit design.
-
CAD Tools: Hands-on experience with Altium Designer KiCad or similar PCB design software.
-
Simulation: Expertise in SPICE LTSpice or equivalent circuit simulation.
-
Programming: Familiarity with C/C or Python for lab bench automation and circuit control.
-
Test Equipment: Proficient in using standard lab equipment like oscilloscopes spectrum analyzers network analyzers and laser measurement equipment.
Highly Desirable (Preferred Skills) -
Advanced Electronics: Experience with integrated photonic interconnect and RF/microwave circuit integration.
-
Prototyping: Familiarity with 3D modeling (SolidWorks AutoCAD) and rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing CNC machining).
-
Work Environment: Experience in a research institute work style.
