Overall Job Purpose:
- The purpose of this role is to efficiently manage all aspects of ocean operations in South China from rate negotiation and shipment execution to exception handling and customer service while ensuring cost control compliance and strong collaboration with partners to drive profitability and customer satisfaction.
- This position will be based in Shenzhen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rate Negotiation: Secure competitive freight rates surcharges and space allocations with ocean carriers in south China Area
- Vessel & Service Management: Select the best shipping lines vessel routes and transit times based on cost reliability and customer requirements.
- Shipment Execution & Tracking: Book cargo space issue Bills of Lading (BL) and other shipping documents and proactively track shipments from port of origin to port of destination.
- Exception Management: Identify and resolve issues such as port congestion vessel delays customs holds or equipment shortages. Communicate these issues and solutions to customers and stakeholders.
- Customer Service: Act as the main point of contact for clients providing updates answering queries and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Cost Control & Profitability: Manage the profitability of each shipment control costs and ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all export/import documentation (Commercial Invoice Packing List Certificate of Origin etc.) is accurate and complies with international regulations (e.g. ISF for US imports).
- Collaboration with Partners: Coordinate closely with overseas agents trucking companies customs brokers and port terminals.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze performance metrics (on-time delivery cost per unit etc.) and generate reports for management and customers.
Essential Job Qualifications:
- Education/Technical Skills:
- Fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics or a related field.
- Knowledge/ Work Experience:
- 8 years above of experience in famous ocean freight forwarding or international logistics.
- In-depth knowledge of Incoterms shipping documentation and shipping operation procedures.
- Key Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with CargoWise or other operation system.
