Location: Newport News VA
As a member of our highly collaborative multidisciplinary Ship Design team you will be responsible for producing & checking detailed 3D models and 2D Assembly drawings extractions using requirements documents specifications standards and regulatory body requirements as defined in the requirements section below. Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities
- Utilize Solidworks to develop detailed 3D models for mechanical and piping systems based on Functional Drawings and/or cognizant engineering guidance or from redlines associated with change paper.
- Develop 2D drawings extractions in Solidworks applying GD&T requirements suitable for production work packages.
- Develop/create standard parts from concept sketches photographs clearly stated functional requirements or vendor provided information.
- Working closely with our clients engineering groups to produce high quality detail design products and drawings.
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Education: Associates degree or 10 Years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associates Degree.
- 10 Years Experience with Mechanical Design 3D Model Development 2D Drawing Development & Checking.
- Proficiency with Solidworks (proficiency with Solidworks routing a plus).
- Experience in drafting methods procedures and techniques.
- Strong MS Excel Word and PowerPoint Skills Required.
- Excellent Oral Written and Presentation Skills.
- Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.
- Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Physical: General Office Setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design experience on Naval and/or commercial Shipbuilding programs considered a plus.
- Knowledgeable in the use of AutoCAD and other Autodesk suite of software.
- Knowledgeable in the use of ShipConstructor Suite of software
- Knowledgeable in the use of Navisworks Clash Detection.
- Experience with PDF Editing Programs (Bluebeam Adobe).
- Proficient in production fabrication and quality control practices.
- Demonstrates initiative and active listening skills.
