Duties and Responsibilities
Provides a broad range of administrative support in fiscal and operations management in the Financial Managements Payroll Office.
Ensures compliance with all Federal and State laws and regulations and University Policies and Procedures.
Plans coordinates analyze and provide support for all payroll functions which includes auditing personnel/payroll documents individual timesheets fringe-type documents and Workers Compensation Claims worksheets.
Computes gross salary and partial pays preparing payroll change schedules and adjustments posting wages-in-kind and initiating garnishments.
Plans coordinates analyzes and provides support on the collection and reporting of payroll overpayments. Help ensure collections are done expeditiously.
Responds to inquiries and provides general and technical information to staff regarding payroll processing.
Research and resolve payroll processing problems and discrepancies. Communicates results to internal as well as external units.
Safeguard and maintain all payroll information during normal business hours and upon close of business daily.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration Human Resources or related field 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in business administration and/or human resources administration demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with business administration and/or human resources.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems. Identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the field of business administration and/or human resources.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing spreadsheet and database software.
Demonstration of high levels of energy flexibility and initiative.
Desirable Qualifications
Familiarity with University and State Human Resources and/or Payroll policies and procedures.
Familiarity with University of Hawaii management human resources and payroll systems.
