This position works with a variety of local state and federal agencies to guide and coordinate planning and preparation for disasters and other large scale events impacting public health and safety; primarily supports the Search and Rescue (SAR) programs multimodal disaster response aircraft pilots and law enforcement officers in conducting training events outreach to volunteers aerial patrols investigations and evidence gathering through their position as a camera operator and airborne observer during law enforcement operations and SAR events.
This position also supports the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Aircraft Section by performing duties such as general labor and maintenance of facilities and equipment may assist Aircraft Maintenance Inspectors and pilots with general maintenance duties as requested cleaning washing and preparing aircraft to return to the field fueling loading aircraft and performing a wide variety of support tasks as assigned.THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR TEAM:

This position is located and based out of our Fairbanks-based Aircraft Section. Our Fairbanks-based Aircraft Section operates from the airports located within the Golden Heart City of Fairbanks often from Fairbanks International Airport or one of the nearby landing areas.
This position does not offer housing nor does it offer someone living outside of the area paid travel to and from the worksite.

OR
Three years of experience in avalanche control and forecasting.
OR
Two years of experience which includes work such as creating contingency plans conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance or directing the recovery from such events or mitigating against preparing for responding to or recovering from emergencies disasters or terrorist events. The required experience includes work such as an Emergency Management Specialist 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Three years of scuba diving experience of which one must be in an instructor or supervisory capacity. Experience may be concurrent.
Desirable qualifications depending on the specialty of the position.
