About the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis
There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- The selected candidate will participate in tasks related to the maintenance of trees within park sites right-of-ways and along hike & bike trails within Precinct One.
- You will be experienced with climbing trees and cutting down limbs while using the proper safety devices.
- In addition you will use lifts buckets or extended truck booms and power tools to gain access to high areas.
- Prune or treat trees or shrubs using handsaws pruning hooks shears and clippers.
- Fill in the cavities of trees with chemicals to promote healing.
- Remove debris and cart away large limbs for disposal using shovels rakes and other tools.
- Clear sites streets and grounds of woody and herbaceous material such as tree stumps and fallen trees and limbs.
- Reshape trees to create aesthetically pleasing shapes.
- Assist with tree risk assessment and manage tasks in accordance with tree removal risk reduction.

Experience:
- One (1) year of related experience
Licensure:
- Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Skilled at operating forestry equipment including chain saws pole pruner saws and stump grinders.
- Skilled at using Forestry safety equipment and tools.
- Ability to work well with the public and staff members
- Ability to work outdoors
