Job Summary

Position: Nurse Manager

Department: Med-Surg/ED

Hours: Full-Time

General Description:

The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse that demonstrates leadership and provides guidance to the health care team while they are providing services to patients and/or families. The Nurse Manager serves as a resource person to staff providers and patients. They determine staffing needs monitor bed availability and appropriate placement of patients. The nurse in this role assumes an interdisciplinary role by assuming responsibilities for various nursing departments in the absence of administration. Plans directs and evaluates the nursing care and functions of the medical-surgical and emergency departments. Coordinates the nursing activities of the medical-surgical and emergency departments and directs organizes and assigns work to the nursing staff. Assesses monitors and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Coordinates nursing activities within the hospital including assisting with staffing patient flow and coordination of hospital activities. Assists as directed in data collection and monitoring aspects of patient care. Acts as a resource person for nursing staff and also for other departments within the hospital as indicated. Manages nursing situations that arise in the hospital.

Experience/Education Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is required. Bachelors degree in nursing field preferred. Prior supervisory experience in a hospital-setting preferred. Must be familiar with electronic health records and have basic computer skills. Must maintain all certifications as required by job function or by law. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital & Clinics is a 17 bed Critical Access Hospital serving Audubon County and the surrounding areas with the mission of Excellence With Quality and Compassion to Those We Serve. Our services include emergency services acute care skilled nursing services laboratory radiology respiratory therapy sleep studies physical therapy occupational therapy speech therapy and surgical addition we offer several specialty services including orthopedic mental health pain management podiatry oncology cardiology neurology nephrology rheumatology and urology.

We also operate two rural health clinics Audubon Family Health Care Clinic and Exira Medical Clinic. Our clinics offer complete care from newborns to senior adults by providing well child check-ups age-appropriate preventative care sports and school physicals immunizations and treatment of occasional and ongoing illnesses.
