Title: Category Buyer - Mechanical / Electronics
Location: Working Place is Koropi / Attika region Hybrid model we would expect 3 - 4 days per week as the standard days on Athens-Koropi site.
Travel: This position demands an ability to travel extensively to meet with customers suppliers contractors and subcontractors.

Together we address the civil aviation defense cyber security and space market in Greece and Cyprus by submitting offers capturing opportunities executing projects and delivering through life support. To that end the team closely cooperates with a wide variety of stakeholders within the Thales Group and within the local Greek ecosystem.
Job Summary:
Experienced Category Buyer with a strong background in mechanical and electronic engineering. Responsible for assessing the market identifying new suppliers performing initial assessments and on-site visits and proposing solutions to internal customers within THALES procurement organization. This role is crucial in ensuring the company procures high-quality goods/services at competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Identification and Assessment:
Identify potential new suppliers and evaluate their capabilities in the fields of mechanical parts cabling works electronic boards etc.
Perform initial assessments and on-site visits to verify suppliers compliance with company standards and requirements.
Develop and maintain a list of qualified suppliers for various categories of mechanical and electrical components and services.
Proposal Development:
Work closely with internal customers from THALES procurement organization to understand their requirements and provide suitable procurement solutions.
Prepare and present proposals to internal stakeholders highlighting potential suppliers cost benefits key competencies fields of expertise and quality considerations.
Procurement Management:
Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to delivery quality or compliance.
Ensure timely procurement of materials and services to support project timelines and operational needs.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and multi-national environment including engineering production and quality assurance to align procurement activities with overall business objectives.
Maintain clear and effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement with a focus on mechanical/electrical components and services.
Previous experience working in defense sector.
Excellent analytical and market research skills.
Ability to conduct on-site visits and evaluations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluent in English and Greek / French speaking will be desirable.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the defense industry.
Knowledge of program management quality management systems and standards.
