JOB DESCRIPTION


Do you enjoy creating digital content and supporting communication projects Kennewick School District is seeking a Communications Coordinator to assist our Communications this role youll help produce digital content that highlights our schools programs students and staff while ensuring our online platforms stay current and engaging. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical and creative skills who enjoys a fast-paced deadline driven role.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  1. Bachelors Degree in Marketing Communications Digital Media Public Relations or related field.
  2. Must present transcripts of highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.
  3. Must pass a basic skills test.
  4. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  5. Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
  6. Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  7. Must pass a background check which includes employee-paid fingerprinting.

QUALIFICAITONS REQUIRED

  1. At least 1 year of experience in communications or digital media.
  2. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks on deadlines.
  4. Excellent error-free writing and editing skills.
  5. Experience creating graphics using Canva Adobe Creative Cloud or other design tools.
  6. Experience with social media platforms and website content management systems.
  7. Experience using social media video content tools such as CapCut.
  8. Experience using AI tools to improve communication processes and quality.
  9. Basic knowledge of AP Style.
  10. Basic knowledge of ADA website guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  1. Biliterate in English and Spanish
  2. Experience with K-12 educational agencies and programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Content Support: Create digital content including photos videos and copy for websites social media and newsletters.
  2. Social Media: Create content schedule posts monitor engagement and track basic analytics to support our social media strategy.
  3. Websites: Maintain district websites by posting updates maintaining accuracy creating new content/pages and ensuring ADA compliance.
  4. Community Communications: Prepare e-newsletters announcements and digital communications for families staff and the community.
  5. Graphic Design: Create graphics and other informational materials using the KSD brand standards.
  6. Video Production: Produce short-form video content used for social media and other resources.
  7. Event Planning: Coordinate district events including attending evening and weekend events as needed.
  8. Technical Assistance: Serve as the help desk for the department by providing training and support to staff on digital tools. Troubleshoot technical issues with communication platforms.
  9. Project Support: Contribute to creative projects and other district initiatives as assigned.
  10. Other Duties as Assigned: Provide support for the communications team as assigned.

The communications coordinator spends a significant amount of time in an office setting performing communications functions. They also travel locally to district buildings event sites and other locations in our community.

  • Physical Hazards:While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally works beyond normal workday. Occasionally attends night meetings or activities. Occasional travel to various locations and school site required.
