JOB SUMMARYThe Classroom Assistants primary responsibility is to assist the classroom teacher in the general supervision and management of the children. The assistant has specific responsibilities for assisting special education students during school and/or special activities. Classroom Assistant assignments are determined yearly at the program supervisors DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential duties of this position include the following: Employees in this position must be able to perform all of the following tasks. The teacher or Program Supervisor may also assign other non-teaching duties assigned by and under the direction of the teacher. Duties may include but are not limited tosupervising individuals and groups assisting on field trips preparing and duplicating educational materials assisting withattendance and other record-keeping escorting students within the school and maintaining the modifications and accommodations documented in the students students in classrooms halls cafeterias yards and student use of and implement behavior intervention program-wide behavior management in the core academic areas including but not limited to Math ELA History and Science at all MCAS exams and support teachers in preparing MCAS ALTS and the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students parents school personnel co-workers andcommunity as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes appropriate attire and grooming and a practicalwork all children and staff members with dignity respect and reports (e.g. incident reports student misconduct reports etc.) to document activities provide written referencesconvey information and/or comply with established observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.) to communicate informationto appropriate personnel for their by LPVEC guidelines for educational staff and LPVEC personnel confidentiality of records and information gained about children their families and other employees as part ofexercising professional work regularly and on staff meetings and in-service other related duties as assigned by the teacher program supervisor or director to ensure the efficient and effectivefunctioning of the work school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe Type: Full-timeJob Categories:Classroom Teacher > Alternative Learning EnvironmentInstructional Support > Paraprofessional / IASpecial Education > Alternative Learning Environment
