The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is responsible for managing and protecting the states renewable natural resources including all wildlife and aquatic life.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been as a Wildlife Enforcement Lieutenant or higher rank in state service:
Six years of experience in wildlife conservation law enforcement.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Possession of a current drivers license.
Applicants may be required to qualify as an ex-officio notary public.
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
NOTE:
This job has special physical requirements in that the incumbent must lift heavy objects (50 lbs. or more) walk long distances work in harsh weather conditions fire handguns rifles and shotguns accurately and have the ability to operate vehicles boats and all-terrain vehicles while in the performance of duties.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Plans directs and manages general and complex enforcement activities of a regions operational/patrol and administrative enforcement programs related to the management protection and conservation of wildlife and fisheries resources and the states boating program. This includes all facets of surveillance interrogation investigation apprehension and arrest of violators of state and federal laws boating programs boating crash investigations state boating education programs and other division support programs.
- Directly supervises and evaluates Lieutenants and other assigned subordinates and civilian employees.
- Schedules and assigns work reviews schedules and training needs.
- Ensures optimum utilization and productivity of all resources equipment and budgets.
Job Duties & Other Information:
- Oversees Basic Training Academy and annual in-service training.
- Oversees the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program.
- Provides management and oversight to the training function associated with agency recruitment and firearms program management.
- Performs needs assessments develops training objectives and develops training recommendations that address identified needs.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This Promotional opportunity is limited to current permanent status classified employees within the Office of the Secretary Department of Wildlife and Fisheries only.
Location:This position is located within theEnforcement Division of the Office of the Secretary in East Baton Rouge Parish at the Waddill Training Academy.
