Job Summary
The Senior Pharmacist is responsible for processing medication orders entered in provider-order-entry (and written) by the prescribers for promptly and accurately providing medications for administration to patients and for supplying pertinent timely and accurate information to health care workers and patients for the safe and effective use of medications. The Senior Pharmacist is also responsible for representing the Pharmacy on key programs such as nutrition support the Safety Committee etc. This includes acting as a liaison serving on committees as appropriate recommending policies and procedures and reviewing drug and supply requirements for that program. -Coordinates daily workload to coincide with needs of the department -Checks medication fills (Cassette Omnicells Floor Stock etc.) -Prepares and processes IV Admixtures -Processes a sufficient quantity of prescriber medication orders -Provides drug consultations with all health care personnel and patients-Detects and assists in documenting adverse drug events. this includes adverse drug reactions medication errors and near misses. -Performs and documents target drug interventions -Maintains necessary record keeping -provides training/in-service education to Pharmacy staff -provides training/in-service education to Nursing and/or medical staff -Ensures that proper drug security and control is performed throughout the day -completed assigned medication inventory assignments -Performs extra DUTIES upon request of Pharmacy Director and/or Assistant DirectorQualifications
