POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Shelter Staff IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Shelter Coordinator CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: KNFTHC Director TYPE: Regular/Full-timeLOCATION: Newkirk OK SHIFT: Overnight Saturday & Sunday 8:00 PM-8:00 AM Float 16-hours Monday-FridayQualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer experience in counseling and/or advocacy stronginterpersonal and communication skills ability to work independently ability to accept responsibilityand follow through project assignments. Also prefer experience or demonstrated interest in womensissues preferably domestic violence. Valid Oklahoma Drivers License and clean driving record for insurability. Responsibilities:Respond to callers accessing 24-hour hotline and provide services including crisisIntervention.Provide information/referrals to victims of domestic violence victims and their childrenFacilitate support groups and/or house meetingsProvide supportive direction relating to money management personal hygiene work skills housekeeping meal planning and preparation and utilization of other community resourcesAssist with protective/restraining orders and other court mattersArrange for emergency medical services or law enforcement services as neededComplete telephone intake with women requesting shelterProvide/arrange for shelter for qualified personsComplete shelter intake and other related forms as requiredProvide/arrange transportation for clients who are appropriate for shelterEnsure client confidentiality and the Centers confidentiality policyAssist in the care and maintenance of the shelter.Participate in staff meetings/trainingsTurnover rooms cleaning and maintaining shelter premisesPrepared to work on-call shifts as needed which may include: days nights and or weekendsPerform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary by SupervisorAll new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation pre employment drug screen and background check.
