Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Technical Director the Registered Respiratory Therapist assists in the diagnosis treatment and management of patients with cardiac and pulmonary disorders. Collects sputum specimens for lab analysis performs arterial capillary and cord blood collection for determination of acid base oxygenation and carbon dioxide levels. Performs 12 lead ECGs and Pulmonary Function Testing if trained. Documents patient assessments and care planning in accordance with industry standards. Administers and documents therapies medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
Responsibilities
Performs therapeutic procedures appropriate to the level of training and/or experience
Maintains accurate department records
Participates in the Quality Review and Infection Control program
Assists in maintaining an appropriate inventory of all required therapeutic supplies
Takes an active role in in-service education
Participates in equipment cleaning decontamination and assembly activities
Responds to emergency codes as designated
Assists others in the completion of all department work assignments
Maintains expertise in one or more areas of department functions
Accepts responsibility for clean safe department work environment
Attends staff meetings and in-service programs
Performs routine clerical activities
Assists healthcare personnel with patients suffering with respiratory and cardiac ailments including but not limited to asthma chest discomfort hyper-ventilation and shortness of breath
Required Skills/Abilities
Entitled to professional designation of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care required
California licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in good standing required
Current certification in ACLS BLS NRP and PALS required
Education & Experience
Education: Must be a graduate of a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Care
Experience: Three years minimum experience in Acute Care setting required
Job Type: Full-time Variable Shift
Pay: $53.00 to $59.00 hourly
