Overview
The Patient Services Specialist I performs routine front-end clinical operations activities which include but are not limited to: registration cashiering gathering and providing appropriate information collecting co-pays and answering the phones. The Patient Services Specialist I interacts with patients families clinicians administrative staff and third-party payers in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for complete and accurate patient registration/check-in.
- Collect co-pays provide receipts and provide timely accounting for all collected cash and payments. Identify discrepancies and immediately work with the supervisor to resolve issues.
- Obtain necessary and required information for both registration and financial documentation needed to complete the check in process.
- Provide information to callers as well as direct callers to the correct destination.
- Respond to patients families and clinic issues in a timely and professional manner provide routine financial benefits and seek assistance from the supervisor when obtaining answers to resolve patient issues.
- Maintain a general and updated understanding of insurance requirements as they relate to the Care Center.
- Retrieve and assess system information related to insurance authorization for patient services from the Patient Access Department.
- Monitor Epic work que for tracking internal/external consults.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
0 - 2 years of experience in patient registration required.
