The Safety Specialist will assist the companys EHS manager with any tasks related to safety while being willing and able to learn and adapt to the safety needs of the business. The Safety Specialist will also help coordinate safety programs and events when needed.
Essential Accountabilities
- Identify and anticipate safety health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental operational and occupational conditions; rendering opinions on procedures investigating incidents and violations; recommending preventive actions.
- Assist with promoting safe work performance by developing safety systems policies and procedures safety campaigns communications and recognize and support team members positively.
- Help ensure compliance with federal state and local safety and health regulations by performing continuous observations and having safety awareness at all times.
- Maintain safety and environmental information database by developing information requirements; designing and maintaining information systems.
- Assist in driving and improving the safety culture by promoting the Good Catch safety program and focus. Lead by example.
- Assist in handling workers compensation claims.
- Assist in maintaining OSHA logs.
- Track all incidents on the safety log.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of safety trainings for all locations.
- Conduct safety observations and make improvement recommendations when needed.
- Be an active member of the safety committees.
- Be a visual presence on the plant floor.
- Be a safety resource for employees.
- Serve as the point of contact for the day-to-day needs of the plant.
- Assist with administering the audio metric testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in safety related field.
- 2 or more years of practical experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
Desired Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word Excel and Powerpoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to influence others by researching gathering data and presenting facts and concepts in a concise manner.

May include rooftops silos catwalks etc. Mental Requirements Reading writing calculating interpersonal skills reasoning/analysis work with minimal supervision time management skills
Travel Frequency (in addition to seminars or related training):
This position will travel domestically 10-20%.
