Position Summary
Concordia University Wisconsin seeks a full-time faculty member in Computer Science with an emphasis in Computer Programming and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join the Department of Computer Science housed within the School of Arts and Sciences beginning August 2026.
The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that integrate strong technical foundations with ethical faith-based perspectives on technologys role in society. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in programming software design and applied AI contribute to curriculum development and mentor students in both academic and professional growth.
We are looking for an educator who values innovative teaching interdisciplinary collaboration and a Christ-centered approach to technological advancement. This position reports to the Chair of Computer Science who reports to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in programming artificial intelligence and related areas (software engineering data structures machine learning data analytics or intelligent systems).
- Participate in the design implementation and continuous improvement of the Computer Science programs
- Mentor students in academic professional and spiritual development.
- Support student research and applied AI projects that connect classroom learning to real1world problems.
- Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate computing and AI into other academic areas.
- Engage in scholarly work such as applied research publication professional presentations or development of innovative teaching practices.
- Promote Concordias mission and values to students colleagues and the broader community.
- Serve on departmental and university committees and participate in accreditation and assessment activities.
- Support outreach and recruitment initiatives for Computer Science and AI programs.
- Attend required university events including faculty meetings retreats commencement and other community gatherings.
- Take ownership of Computer Science club activities with an emphasis on engaging
- Computer Science students and collaborating with university and community constituents.
- Take an active role with the AI & Quantum Innovation Lab
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching computer science or related subjects particularly programming and AI.
- Ability to integrate Christian faith and ethics with technology education.
- Strong commitment to teaching and student mentorship.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty staff and students in a Christian higher education environment.
- Capacity to conduct and guide applied or pedagogical research.
- Familiarity with current trends in software development data science and AI technologies.
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education and Experience
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field (significant progress or ABD considered).
- Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages such as Python Java or C and familiarity with AI tools and frameworks (TensorFlow PyTorch etc...).
- Prior college-level teaching experience is strongly preferred.
- Evidence of scholarly activity or professional experience in AI or software development.
- Active professional engagement or industry collaboration encouraged.
Compensation and Benefits
